Games
From Qwiki
A variety of games have been or are in development based on the Quorlan character and (usually) the world of Moridia. The games are grouped under the brand name, The Runes of Fate, denoting the place in the Quorlan-related gaming family of products.
The games all have a fantasy theme to them and run the gamut from Role Playing Game to Trading Card Game, as well as a unique strategic combat game played using a modified set of Runes from Moridia.
Some of the games include:
The Runes of Fate Role Playing Game
Based in the world of Moridia, the Runes of Fate RPG is a traditional paper and pencil based fantasy role playing game in the tradition of Dungeons & Dragons. It can be played by anywhere from 2-100 players and the rules are kept simple (when compared to many of the other modern RPGs) to keep the game moving at a rapid pace and prevent players and game masters from becoming bogged down in the details of constantly having the reference rules. The game is incomplete to date and has never been released to the general public though some stalwart gamers have play-tested the game in it's current state on numerous occasions. Some day, we hope to complete the game and if anyone is interested in contributing to the project, please contact us at quorlan AT quorlan DOT com. We could use all kinds of help ranging from artwork contributions to writing and refining rules. We are considering turning the completion of this game into an open source type project, where a community is encouraged to form around working toward completing the game and then continuing to evolve and grow it. The fundamental principals are all in place, but a lot of the finer points and details still need to be created, tested and refined before the game can be considered to be ready for a public release (even for beta testing). If you are interested in helping to convert this into an open source effort, again, PLEASE contact us at quorlan AT quorlan DOT com. Thanks!
RuneMage
RuneMage is a totally unique, one on one strategy combat game played using a specialized set of runes. The rules of the game are straightforward and simple. Each player brings his own set of runes and take turns deploying them against their opponents. It is a combination of board game (with no board!), trading card game (similar strategies, but with a finite set of non-collectible pieces (Runes instead of cards)). RuneMage has also never been released to the public though the rules of the game are complete. Further playtesting and rule refinement will be necessary before it will be released. Again, we welcome contributions to the project. Contact us at quorlan AT quorlan DOT com. We could especially use people willing to play test the game and give us honest feedback.
The Runes of Fate Trading Card Game
Also based in the world of Moridia, The Runes of Fate TCG is similar to other trading card games, but with the unique twist of adding interaction with a finite set of runes to the use of traditional TCG cards which allows for the creation and use of some unique and very interesting game dynamics. Another work-in-progress. This one still needs some work and if you're interested in pitching-in, you know the drill by now. quorlan AT quorlan DOT com.
RuneWars
RuneWars is another type of customizable card game, however this one breaks with the traditional TCG model of releasing hundreds of cards in a set periodically and instead adopts a subscription model with each released set being limited in size and available as a complete set in a single purchase. Each card set contains 18 oversized cards. Only 10 cards are needed in a customized deck to play a game and players are able to use any cards they wish from any set in order to construct an army that represents their own unique play style. In RuneWars, the cards aren't the only thing that matter. Runes can be put into play directly on the cards themselves, modifying the abilities and strength of what each card can do creating a unique variety of possibilities that grows and changes as each new set of 18 cards is released. This method of distributing cards, while allowing the game to be customizable, also ensures all players are on an even playing field and money is never a factor in determining who has the best deck. Yet another unfinished product that could use some love from willing volunteers. Quorlan AT quorlan DOT com, as always.
Other Games There are other games in various stages of development as well, and as it becomes available information about those games will be added to this entry.
