Quorlan came from humble beginnings in a darkened basement session of Dungeons & Dragons sometime between 1982-1983. He started as a humble first level magic-user in a campaign world created and Dungeon Mastered by a young gentleman named Joe.

Over the course of the campaign, which spanned many years of sporadic play, Quorlan grew from his humble beginnings to become a legendary and respected wizard in the world in which he was originally born. After years of campaigning and gaining power, Quorlan fought his last battle in the paper and pencil version of D&D in the summer of 1988, when the campaign officially came to an end as the players graduated from high school and scattered to different universities across the country. At the end of the campaign, the character of Quorlan had become incredibly powerful and had begun to invent his own magical spells and was learning to manipulate the fabric of reality itself. This enabled Quorlan to transcend the confines of his D&D birthplace and transport himself across both time and space to land in an entirely different Dungeons & Dragons campaign sometime around the fall of 1990.

Upon arrival in this utterly new and unusual D&D world, Quorlan found himself weakened considerably. A side effect of the magics he had conjured left him robbed of significant pieces of knowledge and was thereby reduced to a far less powerful being than he had been in his previous world. Additionally, in this new world, the very laws of nature differed in sometimes subtle but sometimes drastic ways, which served to further limit Quorlan's ability to conjure the types of magics he was used to manipulating.

After more years of campaigning, Quorlan again grew in power and his reputation as a wizard of great power began to spread. Eventually various groups of adventurers began to seek him out to accompany them on dangerous journeys to discover treasures and wonders the likes of which this world had never seen.

Quorlan was very selective when deciding whose offers to accept and only rarely joined with new groups. Choosing only those groups and adventures he was certain could contribute to his knowledge and power. He studied and struggled until he had once again achieved a level of power and mastery similar to that which he had attained in his previous world. He vowed that the next time he shifted himself from one world to another, he would do so in such a way as to preserve the essence of his power. Alas, this was not to be the case, as he discovered when he first entered the world of Britannia in the online world known as Ultima Online.
